Cheese knife

A simple and effective tool, please...

You have probably noticed the number of gadgets and tools we are surrounded by, all of them designed, God knows by whom and under what circumstances. We walk into a "design" store, the ones that represent all the "big" brands, and there is an endless list of things you ask yourself why do we need another knife, coffee grinder or plastic container. There are some that say that we, the designers, are responsible for this and that we have created consumer frenzy with the silly idea that people want to have different things from their neighbor.

On the other hand, many of us don't have the faintest idea on the number of inventions and advancements there is in several areas like mechanical, robotic, materials, processes, etc. The army itself thrives in innovation at this level and some of it drips down into the consumer arena as new more interesting stuff gets discovered.

Cheese has been around for a number of years. Though there is quite a lot of different cheese, the problem with all of it seems to be the same; you can't cut cheese properly. I have seen all kinds of gadgets, simple and not so simple, making use of wires, blades with holes, weird contraptions, none of them work.

Will somebody look into new materials that are self lubricated and design a tool that works for the majority of cheeses and get this thing sorted out. It's silly, but it is one of those things that pisses me off!
